WASHINGTON (September 8, 2022) – Howard University women's volleyball team travels north to Fairfield, Conn., for the Fairfield Invitational, hosted by Fairfield University. The three-day event starts Friday (Sept. 9) and concludes Sunday (Sept. 11).

MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (2-3) looks to get back in the win column after a tough outing at the Green Wave Classic.
Senior setter
Kayla Diaz (Nanuet, N.Y.) is the engine for Howard, tallying 205 assists in five contests.
Junior outside hitter
Jennifer Bolden (Los Angeles) leads the Bison attack with 46 total kills, followed by senior middle blocker
Tamar Wells (Apopka, Fla.) with 41 total kills.
FAIRFIELD
Fairfield arrives with a 4-2 mark, including wins over Eastern Michigan, New Hampshire, Lafayette and Villanova.
KJ Johnson leads the Stags with 67 total kills while Blakely Montogomery has racked up 170 assists through six matches.
FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
After starting the 2022 season 1-4, Fairleigh Dickinson (3-4) has won its last two-out-of-three contests, including a 3-1 victory over NJIT.
Recently, graduate Tatijana Fucka and Kylie Nott earned Northeast Conference weekly honors, taking home Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
HIGH POINT
High Point comes into the weekend looking to snap a three-match slide. After opening the season 4-0, the Panthers have dropped their last three contests, including back-to-back losses against ranked opponents No. 6 Wisconsin, 3-0, and No. 24 Marquette, 3-1.
Before the season, High Point was voted Big South Preseason favorites by the coaches.
WASHINGTON STATE
Washington State (5-1) enters the weekend riding a three-match win streak. Currently, the squad ranks 20
th in the nation with 2.79 blocks per set, led by Magda Jehlarova with 32 total blocks.
Friday's (Sept. 9) showdown will be the second meeting between Howard and Washington State with the Cougars taking the first match, 3-1.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 2-3, Howard competed in the Green Wave Classic.
Friday (Sept. 2), HU suffered its first setback of the season with a tough 3-1 loss (16-25, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25) against Tulane.
Later that night, Howard came up short against the Bobcats in four sets (28-30, 25-19, 19-25, 14-25).
The following day (Sept. 3), the Bison fell short against Kansas City in a five-set thriller (25-22, 10-25, 25-23, 31-29, 10-15).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Sept. 16-17, Howard is set to compete in the Penn State Classic, hosted by Penn State University.
