Own Goal Downs the Bison

LORETTA, Pa. (September 29, 2022) – The Bison fall to an 0-8-1 overall record as they drop Thursday's conference matchup 2-1 to Saint Francis (PA) (4-6-1).

A tenacious HU outshot SFU 6-3 in the first half. Though efforts proved fruitless on both side as the game remained scoreless through the first 60 minutes of play.

Capitalizing on a corner kick, the Red Flash's Tomke Dziesianty broke the stalemate 19 seconds after the half

In the 70th minute sophomore Rachel Asare evened the score when she converted a penalty kick into her first goal of the season.

The Bison's fall came just nine minutes later as the same SFU defender made her way to the net. Taking aim, the ball deflected off a Howard defender before slowly rolling into the net.

Howard only allowed two corner kick opportunities compared to the Bison's nine. The HU defense applied the pressure as the Red Flash were only able to get three shots off in the first before adding four more in the second half. Goalkeeper Kennedy Jones recorded four saves.

The team is back in action Sunday as they host Sacred Heart University at 2 P.M.
