Colonials Defeat Bison

Men's Soccer unable to slow down George Washington

WASHINGTON (September 21, 2022) – Howard University men's soccer team was unable to slow down crosstown rival George Washington (GW), falling to the Colonials, 5-0.
 
Moments into the contest, GW's Elias Norris scored on an unassisted goal and put the Colonials ahead, 1-0.
 
At the 38-minute mark, Tiago Carvalho found Oscar Haynes Brown for GW's second goal and took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
 
After intermission, Aaron Kronenberg extended George Washington's lead, 3-0, followed by another goal from Brown at the 63-minute mark, 4-0.
 
With time dwindling, Alex Nicholson registered his second goal of the season, thanks to an assist from Elias Norris, 5-0.
 
Junior Nathan Leggett (Apex, N.C.) and second-year Bison Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) each took four shots while newcomer JR Gawel (St. Mary's, Md.) recorded seven saves in the loss.
 
Sunday (Sept. 25), Howard travels to Brooklyn, N.Y., to face St. Francis-Brooklyn. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
