Emmitsburg, Md. (September 2, 2022) – Howard University women's cross country team started the 2022 season with a bang, winning the individual and team title at the 2022 Mount 5K Duals, hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.

Wesley Stephens was excited about the team's performances today after amassing 44 points and holding off regional competitors UMBC and The Mount.
"It's great to start out the season with victories," said Stephens, who's entering his first full season as cross country head coach. "I was very pleased with the effort we gave today."
Fifth-year senior
Melanie White (Orlando, Fla.) led the Bison in Friday's race, winning with a time of 19:13.
"Today was the ideal race based off conditions," White expressed. "I like to run in front of the pack."
Senior
Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) and newcomer
Jordyn Miller (Mundelein, Ill.) placed in the top 10, earning fourth (19:43) and seventh (20:11), respectively.
Sophomores
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) rounded out the Bison, finishing 15
th and 17
th, respectively.
Howard returns to action Friday (Sept. 16) to compete in a loaded field at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md. Meet is set to start at 5:15 p.m., followed by the men's race at 6:30 p.m.
