FAIRFIELD, Conn. (September 10, 2022) – Howard University women's volleyball team took down Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-13), snapping a five-match skid at the Fairfield Invitational, hosted by Fairfield University.
Sophomore outside hitter
Dami Awojobi (Hempstead, N.Y.) led the way, producing a .444 hitting percentage with 10 kills and a pair of total blocks. Fellow classmate
Cimone Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) added nine kills, five total blocks (one solo) and a pair of digs in the victory.
FDU (3-7) held a slim 14-13 edge midway through the first frame until the Bison went on a 12-2 run to take game one, 25-16.
After winning game two, 25-18, HU (3-5) dominated the third set, registering a .600 hitting percentage with 15 kills and two service aces by freshman setter
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas).
Overall, Howard recorded a .417 hitting percentage on the night.
Sophia Spridonakos led the Knights with six kills a losing effort.
Sunday (Sept. 11), Howard wraps up the weekend against Fairfield. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
