PITTSBURGH (September 10, 2022) – Howard University men's soccer team fell on the road at Duquesne, 7-0.
With the loss, HU dropped to 0-4 while Duquesne remained unbeaten on the season (5-0).
Despite the setback, Howard outshot the Dukes, 18-11.
Junior forward
Mason Christian (Fulton, Md.) led the way with five shot attempts, followed by sophomore
Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) with four tries in the loss.
Within the first 13 minutes of action, Ask Ekeland scored a pair of goals and put the Dukes ahead, 2-0.
At the 20-minute mark, Torge Witteborg added the margin, thanks to an assist from Anthony Harding, 3-0.
Before intermission, Ryan Goodhew gave the Dukes' a 4-0 advantage at the break.
Duquesne's momentum continued after halftime, scoring three more goals.
Freshman goalkeeper
JR Gawel (St. Mary's Md.) recorded seven saves in the loss.
On Sept. 18, HU hosts VMI at Greene Stadium. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
