WASHINGTON (September 1, 2022) – Howard University women's volleyball team heads to the Big Easy (New Orleans) for the Green Wave Classic, hosted by Tulane University. The two-day event starts with a pair of matches Friday (Sept. 2) versus the Tulane and Ohio. The weekend concludes with a contest against Kansas City Saturday (Sept. 3).

MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (2-0) won its first matches of the new year, defeating local rivals George Mason, 3-1, and Georgetown, 3-0.
Freshman standout
Rya McKinnon (Bessemer, Ala.) led the Bison attack with 27 total kills. For her efforts, the Alabama native was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.
TULANE
Tulane went 2-1 in its opening weekend in Beaumont, Texas at the Katrinka Crawford Invitational. The Green Wave bounced back after dropping its opening match to Southeastern Louisiana, sweeping day two with wins over Prairie View A&M and Lamar.
After week one, Kayla Kaiser tops the AAC leader board in hitting percentage (.411) and aces (8).
KANSAS CITY
Kansas City (1-2) competed in the Bradley Invitational where they went 1-2 overall. After winning their opening match against Miami (Ohio), the Roos dropped their last two matches versus Bradley and No. 21 Western Kentucky.
Odyssey Warren has been the top option thus far, averaging 2.54 kills per set.
OHIO
Ohio (0-2) opened the season with a pair of losses versus Marquette and No. 11 Kentucky.
Caitlin O'Farrell leads the Bobcats with 16 total kills while producing a .297 hitting percentage.
LAST TIMEOUT
Last weekend, HU opened the 2022 campaign with a pair of victories over George Mason (Aug. 26) and Georgetown (Aug. 27).
HU opened the season with a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-18, 25-6, 25-22) over the Patriots Friday (Aug. 26), followed by a three-set sweep against the Hoyas (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) Saturday night (Aug. 27) at McDonough Arena.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Sept. 9-11, Howard goes to Fairfield, Conn., for the Fairfield Invitational, hosted by Fairfield University.
