ANNAPOLIS, Md. (April 9, 2022) – Howard University women's tennis team suffered their first setback in over a month, falling on the road to Navy, 6-1, at Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium.
With the loss, HU (8-4) saw its six-match win streak come to an end.
Freshman standout
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) led the Bison with a three-set victory over Navy's Jillian Taggart (7-6 [7-4], 4-6, 10-7).
Fellow classmate
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) dropped a tough bout to the Mids' Emily Tannenbaum in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 10-5).
Navy won slots three through six in straight sets.
In pairs, Butcher and Grayson served as a club's top doubles team, coming up short versus Navy's Katreina Corpuz and Meghana Komarraju (7-5).
Navy went on to sweep the other two doubles matches.
Sunday (April 10), the women take on Delaware State at Banneker Recreation Center. First-serve at 2 p.m.
