Men’s Basketball Meets Gallaudet in the Battle of the Bison

HU wraps up nonconference play against crosstown opponent

WASHINGTON (February 8, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball team hosts Gallaudet (GU) in their final nonconference game of the season at Burr Gymnasium. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
 
Effective January 15, 2022, in compliance with the District of Columbia's Vaccination DC policy, all guests ages 12 years and older are required to show proof of vaccination to enter Burr Gymnasium.
 
PLEASE NOTE: Burr Gymnasium will be operating at 50-percent capacity during events until further notice.
 
Guests aged 12 and older must provide proof of having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by January 15, 2022 to enter. For those taking a two-dose vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, proof of a second dose will be required for entry beginning February 15, 2022.

Graduate Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) continues to be one of the nation's best shooters, leading the country in three-point field goal percentage (50-percent).
 
Six-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Elijah Hawkins (Washington) is making the case as of the top freshman in the nation. Nationally, the D.C. native sits eighth in steals per game (2.4/9th) and 16th assists per game (5.9/15th).
 
GALLAUDET
 
GU (2-18) begins a three-game road swing while looking to snap its four-game skid.
 
Rory Lewis leads the team, posting 13.3 points per game (ppg). Corey Smith ranks second on the squad with 11.5 ppg.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Yesterday (Feb. 7), Howard held off a scrappy Delaware State (DSU) Hornets squad on the road inside Memorial Hall, 69-64, while improving to 4-3 in MEAC play.
 
Foster led the way with another impressive shooting performance, finishing with 21 points on 50-percent shooting (6-of-12), all from behind the arc.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Saturday (Feb. 12), HU resumes league play against DSU inside Burr Gymnasium. Game-time is set for 4 p.m.
