WASHINGTON (February 27, 2022) – Saturday (Feb. 26),
Ty Grace earned her 100
th victory as Howard University women's basketball head coach after edging out North Carolina Central, 65-63, inside Burr Gymnasium.
Overall, Grace has 165 career wins as a head coach at three stops (100 – Howard; 44 – New Haven; 21 – Ramapo College of New Jersey).
"I'm very thankful in achieving such a great accomplish at Howard," said Grace, who's in her seventh season at the helm. "I couldn't have done this without all the student-athletes and some amazing staff. They are the reason for this achievement."
In 2015, Grace was named head coach and took over a program that went 4-27 the season before.
In seven years, she has revitalized the program with five winning seasons, including four straight dating back to 2018.
"I would like to thank all the support staff and administrators that have been instrumental in our success," Grace continued. "I would also like to thank Director of Athletics
Kery Davis and President Dr.
Wayne A. I. Frederick for allowing me to lead this program. I appreciate all the love and support."
This year, the Bison have secured another winning season. Currently, HU is 16-8 overall and sit first in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standings.
In the summer, Grace signed a contract extension through the 2024-25 season.
Last season, she was named 2021 MEAC Coach of the Year after leading the Bison to its highest winning percentage (.789) in program history, going 15-4 overall.

- First Win - December 7, 2015 vs. North Carolina Central, 68-61
- 50th Win - February 23, 2019 at Coppin State, 88-81
- 100th Win - February 26, 2022 vs. North Carolina Central, 65-63
