WASHINGTON (February 12, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball team extended its win streak to four after knocking off Delaware State (DSU), 85-72, inside The Burr.
With the victory, HU moved to 12-10 (5-3 MEAC) while winning both contests against the Hornets within a six-day span.
Overall, Howard shot 48-percent (27-of-56) from the field, including 48-percent (12-of-25) from downtown.
Four Bison reached double figures in scoring, led by graduate sharpshooter
Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) tying a career-best 27 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including 6-for-10 from beyond the arc.
Howard led throughout the first half, but Delaware State kept the game close. DSU's D'Marco Baucum connected on a trey ball and tied the contest at 25 apiece with more than six minutes left before intermission.
From that point, the Bison went on a 16-3 run, capped off by a long ball from six-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week
Elijah Hawkins (Washington), 41-28. Hawkins finished with 13 points, nine dimes, six boards and three steals in the win.
Delaware State fought back and cut the deficit to single digits before halftime, thanks to a pair of freebies from Myles Carter, 41-32.
After the break, DSU erased the halftime deficit and took their first lead of the game on a three-pointer by Carter, 52-51.
With nearly 10 minutes left and both clubs trading buckets, Foster took over and scored the Bison's next 16 points. The Virginia native extended the lead to eight with less than eight minutes remaining.
DSU made one final run, trimming the margin to five, 72-67, but Howard finished the contest on a 13-5 run.

Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) had 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting while graduate big man
Randall Brumant (Houston) added 13 points, six boards and four rejections in the victory.
DSU (2-19, 0-8 MEAC) shot an impressive 57-percent (28-of-49) from the floor, including 67-percent (10-of-15) from long range. Four Hornets reached double figures, led by Carter with 25 points.
On Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), Howard takes on the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in Princess Anne, Md. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
