WASHINGTON (November 1, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball team won its exhibition match versus Multnomah (MU), 81-69, inside The Burr.
Third-year Bison
Jordan Wood (San Antonio) led the way with a team-leading 18 points, followed by redshirt junior
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) with 17 points.
With less than nine minutes before intermission, sophomore guard
Elijah Hawkins (Washington) found Wood behind the arc and gave HU a double-digit advantage, 25-15.
MU chipped away at the deficit and trimmed the margin as low as two with less than a minute before halftime, 40-38, but the Bison went on a quick 5-0 spurt to close out the half, 45-38.
After intermission, Howard kept the Lions at bay and ballooned the margin as much as 16 points with more than 10 minutes remaining, 66-50.
MC cut the deficit to single digits multiple times, but the Bison were in control and never relinquished the lead.
Hawkins finished with 13 points and five dimes in the win.
For the Lions, Charles Jones led all scorers with 20 points in the loss.
On Nov. 7, Howard travels to Lexington, Ken., to take on No. 4 Kentucky. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
