Men’s Hoops Squares Off Against Morgan State Saturday

Bison open road swing at Bears

WASHINGTON (January 21, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball team opens its four-game road swing in Baltimore Saturday (Jan. 22) against the Morgan State (MSU) Bears. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. inside the Hill Field House.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Saturday's matchup will be the 111th meeting between Howard and Morgan State with the Bears leading the all-time series, 65-45.
 
HOWARD
 
HU (6-8, 0-1 MEAC) seeks its first conference win of the season while snapping a three-game skid.
 
This year, Howard tops the league in several offensive categories, including points (78.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.468) and three-point percentage (.385).
 
Graduate Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) has established himself as one of the top sharpshooters in the country, ranking top 10 in three-point percentage (50.5/3rd) and three-pointers per game (3.71/9th).
 
Freshman point guard Elijah Hawkins (Washington) sits among the top playmakers in the nation, averaging 6.5 assists, which ranks seventh in the country.
 
MORGAN STATE
 
MSU (6-8, 1-1 MEAC) looks to get back in the win column after a tough loss against rival Coppin State, 79-76.
 
This season, three Bears average double figures in scoring: De'Torrion Ware (10.9 ppg); Keith McGee (10.8 ppg) and Malik Miller (10.8 ppg).
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Monday (Jan. 17), the Bison came up just short of taking down Notre Dame in front of a nationally televised audience on FOX, 71-68, at Burr Gymnasium.
 
Redshirt sophomore Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) put on an all-around performance, registering a career-high 25 points, seven rebounds (season-high) and three steals.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
HU returns to Baltimore Monday (Jan. 24) where the Coppin State Eagles await. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside PEC Arena.
