Three Bison placed in the top 5

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (September 25, 2021) – Howard University women's cross country team won the 2021 Shore Invitational, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, after three Bison placed in the top 5.

"Today was another step in the right direction," said Howard assistant coach Andrew Murphy, who coaches primarily the distance runners. "We had several personal bests achieved from our student-athletes. We're getting better every week."

Rookies Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) led the Bison charge, finishing first (19:27.40) and second (20:07.30), respectively.

Junior and DMV native Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.) earned fourth overall, clocking in at 20:23.70.

Sophomore Alyssa Mark (Orlando, Fla.) and newcomer Nicole Nash (Rockaway, N.J.) rounded out the top 15, finishing 13th (21:26.50) and 14th (21:35.00), respectively.

On the men's side, Delaware State won the 2021 Shore Invitational, led by Albert Norman (25:57.00) and Devin Smith (26:15.40) placing first and second, respectively.

HU men took second overall in the event.

"Both teams are extremely young and making solid improvements weekly," Murphy continued. "We are just over a month away from the MEAC Championships and I believe we are in great position to compete."

On Oct. 16, Howard travels to Gettysburg, Pa., for the Aubrey Shank Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College.
