PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (September 25, 2021) – Howard University men's cross country team finished second overall at The Shore Invitational, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
On the day, three Bison placed in the top 10.
"Today was another step in the right direction," said Howard assistant coach
Andrew Murphy, who coaches primarily the distance runners. "We had several personal bests achieved from our student-athletes. We're getting better every week."
Senior
Ayoade Adebiyi (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the Bison with another top 10 finish, placing third overall with a 26:20.00 mark in the 8K race.
Fellow classmate and All-MEAC selection
Gavin Williams (Dover, Del.) made his season debut and did not disappoint, taking sixth place with a 27:15.10 mark.
Newcomer
Marsellis Davis (Columbus, Ohio) took eight overall after clocking in at 27:49.00 while fellow rookie
Cameron Kennedy recorded a 28:06.50 time (11
th overall).
Delaware State men won the 2021 Shore Invitational, led by Albert Norman (25:57.00) and Devin Smith (26:15.40) placing first and second, respectively.
On the women's side, HU won the event with three Bison earning top 5 finishes.
"Both teams are extremely young and making solid improvements weekly," Murphy continued. "We are just over a month away from the MEAC Championships and I believe we are in great position to compete."
On Oct. 16, Howard travels to Gettysburg, Pa., for the Aubrey Shank Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College.
