WASHINGTON (October 1, 2026) – Howard University cross country gets ready for the annual Paul Short Run Friday (Oct. 2). Men line up at 9:30 a.m., and women follow shortly after at 10:15 a.m.

RACE PREVIEW
Paul short is a prestigious annual cross country meet, founded in 1969 by former Lehigh cross country and track and field head coach John Covert. This year, the race will be presented by Asics and The Marshall.
The teams participating this year are Howard, Lehigh, Army West Point, Bowling Green, Brown, Bucknell, Charleston, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Colgate, Dartmouth, Delaware State, Fayetteville St., Fordham, Liberty, Maine, Mercer, Navy, Norfolk State, Ohio State, Penn, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's University, Shippensburg, Sienna, Stonehill, Stony Brook, Temple, UMBC, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, Virginia, West Chester, Wingate and Yale.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 11, the Bison ran in the Virginia Invitational, coming in sixth place.
There were amazing performances from
Alexis Jones (New Windsor, N.Y.) dominating the women's division, finishing in the top half with a 18:42.30 mark, and
Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) leading the men with a 19:37.60 time.

On Oct. 16, the Bison will be back on the terrain at 9:30 a.m. in Charlottesville, Va., for the
Panorama Farms Invitational, hosted by the Virginia Cavaliers.
