WASHINGTON (September 1, 2021) – Howard University women's soccer team begins a brief two-match home stand Thursday (Sept. 2) against the Longwood (LU) Lancers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
LU has won 10 out of the last 15 meetings, dating back to 2005. Howard's last win against the Lancers came at home in 2016.
HOWARD
After seeing their contest at Delaware State (Aug. 27) postponed due to weather, HU (1-0) enters the weekend looking to build momentum before league play at Merrimack (Sept. 19). Following a slow start versus Hampton, Howard picked up the tempo after intermission and took down the Lady Pirates, 3-1, at home.
Senior
Kenya Saunders (Ontario, Canada), sophomore
Nyla Allen (Elmont, N.Y.) and freshman
Melea Earley (Whittier, Calif.) each scored in the victory.
LONGWOOD
For Longwood (0-4), they are looking for their first win of the season. LU has played all, but one contest away from Farmville, Va.
Danielle Toone and Gabby Young are the lone Lancers to score a goal this season with one apiece.
LAST TIMEOUT
Monday (Aug. 23), Howard took down the Hampton Lady Pirates, 3-1, in front of raucous crowd of more than 3,200 spectators, the largest home gathering in program history.
Earley finished the night with a goal and assist in her collegiate debut while graduate
Alayah Hightower (Mitchellville, Md.) ended with seven saves in the win.
