WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 10, 2021) – On May 27-31, the Annual African-American Collegiate & Youth Golfers Hall of Fame (AAC&YGHOF) Conference took place in Palm Beach County, hosted by Inner City Youth Golfers', Inc., where Howard University incoming freshman
Makenna Rodriguez and rising sophomore
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) were inducted. This historic recognition was sponsored and presented by Commissioner
Mackenson "Mack" Bernard of District 7.
Rodriguez and Siplin were named 2020 AAC&YGHOF Youth Golfers of the Year.
"Makenna and Joshua are incredible student-athletes," said Director of Golf
Sam Puryear, who just wrapped up his first season with the Bison. "They exemplify the true definition of stellar student-athletes and we're excited to have them at Howard University."
At the same event, Rodriguez received the inaugural Essie & Malachi Knowles Golf & Education Scholarship after finishing high school with a 5.2 GPA.
For Siplin, he ended his first year with a pair of match-play victories against Navy (April 9) and crosstown rival Georgetown (April 11).
Howard returns to the golf course fall 2021.
