WASHINGTON (April 2, 2021) – Howard University women's tennis team hung tough, but were unable to take down Norfolk State (NSU), 2-5, on Senior Day at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus in SE D.C.
Second-year Bison
Alexandra Blackwell (Austin, Texas) and
Yemisi Ifederu (London, England) picked up their first singles wins of the season.
Iferedu entered the match serving as the team's top singles player, knocking off NSU's Paula Fortuno in straight sets (6-1, 6-3). For Blackwell, she came in as the squad's No. 3 singles player where she took down Norfolk State's Andrea Barcenas in consecutive sets (7-6, 6-0).

Nicholas Askew and the team acknowledged lone senior
Aria Ragas (John's Creek, Ga.) for her hard work and dedication to the program.
Howard has a quick turnaround as they travel north to Dover, Del., to face Delaware State in another conference match. First serve at 1 p.m.
