WASHINGTON (February 19, 2021) – Howard University women's volleyball team overcame a 2-0 deficit to take down Coppin State (CSU) in five sets (27-29, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 16-14) at Burr Gymnasium.
With the win, HU moved to .500 (2-2) overall while grabbing their first conference win of the season (1-1).
Three Bison led the way with double-doubles: juniors

Kayla Diaz (Nanuet, N.Y. / 26 assists & 11 digs).
Coppin State took a commanding 2-0 match lead after hitting .333 in the first two frames, but HU refused to go away.
Both squads were deadlocked at 13 midway through game three until six hitting errors from CSU put HU in position to take set three, 25-23.
Howard found its rhythm in set four, eclipsing a match-best .429 hitting percentage, and tying the match at 2 apiece.
HU's momentum continued into the fifth and deciding set, scoring the first seven-out-of-nine points with service aces and kills. Coppin State battled back and the game at 14 until a service error and match-winning kill by Williams clinched Howard's first conference win of the season.

Defensively, freshman
Amari Patterson (Waukegan, Ill.) recorded a team-best 22 digs in the win.
