PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – APGA Tour officials today announced the second update in the APGA Collegiate Ranking for the 2021-2022 season with Howard University's
Everett Whiten Jr., moving up eight spots in the standings to take over the No.1-ranking from Ethan Mangum of William & Mary. The APGA Collegiate Ranking was announced in October 2020 through a partnership between PGA TOUR University presented by Velocity Global and the APGA Tour.
Eligible players are Black golfers from NCAA Division I, II or III programs – including HBCUs – who exhaust a minimum of four years of college eligibility. The APGA Collegiate Ranking is based on players' Golfstat adjusted scoring average, designed to evaluate the top players positioned to qualify for APGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament access.
Mangum, who held the lead in the opening rankings last month, moves into the 2
nd position with
Gregory Odom, Quinn Riley (Duke) and Kasoma Paulino (Henderson State) rounding out the top 5 in the standings. The Class of 2022 Ranking includes Golfstat-ranked college tournaments played in Spring 2021, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. The top five players in the final APGA Collegiate Ranking will receive;
- Scholarship access to APGA TOUR events through the remainder of the 2022 APGA Tour season.
- Inclusion in the APGA Tour Player Development Program presented by World Wide Technology.
- Scholarship access into the Korn Ferry Qualifying School for the 2023 season.
Additionally, the #1 Player will receive a sponsor exemption into the 2022 REX Hospital Open on KFT.

Whiten joined the Howard Bison after a successful freshman campaign at Hampton University. Last season, Whiten took home All-MEAC honors after placing fifth at the 2021 MEAC Golf Championship. His move to No. 1 in the standings was catapulted by his victory in October at the Towson Invitational where he shot 65-74-67 for a three-stroke victory.
