Men’s Hoops Visits Georgetown Wednesday Night on FS1

Bison take on crosstown rival Georgetown in a nonconference matchup

WASHINGTON (December 14, 2021) – Howard University men's basketball team begins a seven-game road swing against crosstown rival Georgetown University (GU) Wednesday (Dec. 15) inside Capital One Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on FS1.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
 
Wednesday's matchup will be the 11th meeting all-time between Howard and Georgetown with the last faceoff taking place December 29, 2018.
 
GU is undefeated against the Bison, but both teams head into the matchup with a 5-4 record.
 
HOWARD
 
This season, HU looks to remain undefeated against crosstown foes on the season and get their first win in program history against Georgetown.
 
The Bison head into Wednesday's game with five players averaging double digits. Three-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week freshman guard Elijah Hawkins (Washington) leads the squad in scoring (14.3 ppg) while ranking fourth in the country with 7.3 assists per game.
 
Graduate Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) looks to continue his success beyond the arc, shooting 53-percent from three (28-of-53) and averaging 13.0 ppg on the season. Fellow classmate Randall Brumant (Houston) leads the team in rebounding, posting 5.7 rpg through nine games.
 
GEORGETOWN
 
Georgetown is coming off a close win at home against Syracuse (Dec. 11) after erasing a 10-point deficit, 79-75. Freshman guard Aminu Mohammed led the Hoyas in scoring with 23 points and five assists.
 
GU has four players averaging double digits with Mohammed leading the way (15.1 ppg).
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Dec. 4, the Bison had an impressive win against crosstown opponent American, 90-56, inside Burr Gymnasium.
 
Redshirt sophomore Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) led the Bison with 19 points, seven boards and four assists in the victory. Brumant was also a key player, adding 16 points and six rebounds.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
HU continues its seven-game road trip Saturday (Dec. 18) at the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic in Newark, N.J., against North Carolina A&T State. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Prudential Center.
