WASHINGTON (November 7, 2021) – Howard University men's soccer team closed out the 2021 campaign with a shutout win over Northeast Conference (NEC) foe Saint Francis (Pa.), 2-0, at Greene Stadium.
With the victory, HU ends the season going 2-0-1 at home since October 1.
Before the contests, the program acknowledged its seniors for their hard work and dedication to Howard Athletics.
Senior goalkeeper
Emery Simon (Elkhart, Ind.) finished his Bison career with four saves in the win.
At the 30-minute mark, newcomer
Tighe Yursha (Bradenton, Fla.) scored his first career goal off an assist from senior forward
Duncan Dunkwu (Germantown, Md.) and put the Bison ahead, 1-0.
Moments before the half, sophomore
Nathan Leggett (Apex, N.C.) extended the lead after tallying his first collegiate goal and gave HU a 2-0 advantage at the break, 2-0.
Howard kept the pressure on after intermission, outshooting Saint Francis, 9-6, while holding the Red Flash scoreless for 90 minutes.
HU (3-10-3. 2-6-1 NEC) wrapped up its first season in the NEC and looks to build in prepare for the 2022 campaign.
