WASHINGTON (November 19, 2021) – Top seeded Howard University women's volleyball team moved on to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Semifinals after sweeping No. 8 South Carolina State (SCSU) in three sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-14) at Burr Gymnasium.
Overall, the Bison (16-12) produced a .351 hitting percentage throughout the contest.
Before the match, freshman
Bria Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) received her MEAC Rookie of the Year plaque and All-MEAC First Team award. In the contest, Woodard filled the stat sheet with five kills, four service aces and a pair of digs.
HU dominated all three sets while the Bulldogs were unable to get into a rhythm. SCSU finished -.095 on the day, including 20 hitting errors.
Newcomer
Cimone Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) added five kills and two total blocks while senior setter
Milexa Cardona (Kissimmee, Fla.) racked up a match-leading 16 assists in the win.
Saturday (Nov. 20), No. 1 Howard takes on No. 4 North Carolina Central for the third time this season. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
