LORETTO, Pa. (November 13, 2021) – Howard University women's swim team came up short in their Northeast Conference (NEC) debut, falling in a double-dual meet to LIU, 172-70, and Saint Francis (Pa.), 159-83.
Despite the setbacks, several Bison etched themselves in the program's record books.
Sophomores
Alana Josey (York, Pa.) and
Kaliyah Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) competed in the 1000 Free where they finished second (11:09.41) and fifth (11:25.14), respectively. As a result, both Bison inked their names on the all-time performance list, sitting fourth and 10
th, respectively.
Second-year Bison
Michaela Spears (Chicago) and newcomer
Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) represented HU in the 200 IM, placing second (2:11.79) and fourth (2:15.06), respectively. For their efforts, the Chicago native ranks fourth all-time in school history while Thompson stands 10
th overall.
Other notable Bison performances included junior
Breyahna Tyme (Ontario, Canada) earning eighth overall (2:15.43) in the program's 200 Back leaderboard and sophomore
Isabella Fountain (White Plains, N.Y.) claiming 10
th all-time in the 50 Free (24.57).
Howard closes out the first half with the H2ounds Invitational. The two-day event (Dec. 3-4) is hosted by Loyola (Md.).
