Men’s Basketball Remains Unbeaten With Road Win at Bradley

Bison down Braves with hot shooting

PEORIA, Ill. (November 13, 2021) – Howard University men's basketball team led from start-to-finish to down Bradley (BU), 76-64, and remain unbeaten on the season (3-0).

With the victory, HU secured its first 3-0 start since the 2018-19 campaign.

On the afternoon, Howard shot a scorching 54-percent (13-of-24) from behind the arc, led by senior guard Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.). The Virgnia native scored a team-leading 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting from downtown in a reserve role.

HU opened the contest on an 11-0 run, capped off by a layup from rookie guard Elijah Hawkins (Washington).

Howard held a double-digit lead throughout majority of the first half. With under a minute left before intermission, Max Ekono cut the margin to seven, 31-24, but back-to-back layups from senior Deven Richmond (Bowie, Md.) and Sam Green (Bowie, Md.) gave the Bison a double-digit advantage at halftime, 35-24.

After intermission, the Bison kept Bradley at bay and ballooned the margin as much as 22 points, 65-43, thanks to a trey ball from graduate Tai Bibbs (Chicago).

BU fought back down the stretch, but never cut the deficit back to single digits in the second half.

Hawkins and redshirt sophomore Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) each recorded 14 points while graduate Randall Brumant (Houston) notched his first double-double as a Bison with 11 points and 10 boards in the win.

For Bradley (0-2), Malevy Leons posted 16 points while Rienk Mast produced a double-double (13 points and 10 rebounds) in the loss.

HU travels to the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) to face No. 4 Villanova. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on FS2.
