WASHINGTON (November 12, 2021) – Howard University women's volleyball team wrapped up its home slate with a loss against Big 12 opponent West Virginia (WVU) inside The Burr (12-25, 12-25, 23-25).
With the setback, HU saw its eight-match win streak come to a halt.
Second-year Bison
Jennifer Bolden (Los Angeles) led the way with eight kills while producing an impressive .462 hitting percentage.
WVU (17-7) controlled the first two sets, leading from start-to-finish while registering a scorching .508 hitting percentage.
In game three, Howard refused to go away without a fight. Late into the set, Bolden delivered a kill and gave HU a 20-19 edge. West Virginia regained momentum and held off a late charge by the Bison to win in straight sets.
Senior
Kailyn Williams (Arlington, Texas) had five kills while fellow Texas native and classmate
Busisiwe Banda (Cedar Park) posted three service aces in the loss.
For WVU, Athena Ardila recorded a match-leading 11 kills in the win.
Sunday (Nov. 13), HU (14-12) closes out the regular season at Norfolk State. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
