WASHINGTON (November 1, 2021) – Howard University men's basketball team won their final tune-up before next week's season opener, cruising past nearby rival Bowie State (BSU), 88-67, inside Burr Gymnasium.

Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the way with 14 points apiece in the win.
HU opened the game on a 10-0 run, capped off by a layup from redshirt sophomore
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.).
Howard led as much as 14 points after a trey ball from sophomore
Jordan Wood (San Antonio), 30-16, but the Bulldogs refused to go away, cutting the deficit to five, thanks to a pair of freebies from Joshua Cornish, 33-28.
With time dwindling before intermission, HU closed out the half on a 9-4 spurt and extended its advantage back to double digits, 42-32.
BSU started the second period on a 12-4 run, highlighted by Cornish's three-pointer, 46-44.
HU withstood the Bulldogs' charge and turned up on the defensive end.
After Settle's layup ballooned the margin back to double digits, 57-46, the Bison went on a 13-5 spurt and held a 19-point advantage with more than eight minutes remaining, 70-51.
From that point on, the Bison cruised to victory.

Khalil Robinson (Columbia, S.C.) had 12 points each while senior guard
Deven Richmond (Bowie, Md.) netted 11 points off the bench.
Cornish led the Bulldogs with 15 points, followed by Kyree Freeman-Davis with 12 points in the loss.
Tuesday (Nov. 9), Howard hosts UDC in their season opener. Tipoff at 5 p.m. inside The Burr.
