Howard Takes on Beltway Rival Morgan St. on ESPNU

Bison fans are encouraged to wear white.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Howard University football team will host beltway rival Morgan State University for their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener under the lights on ESPNU, Friday, Oct. 8 in Greene Stadium for an 8:05 p.m. EST scheduled kickoff.

The Bison will look for their first consecutive win since Oct. 20, 2018, when Howard defeated Morgan State and Delaware State on successive weekends. 

Howard (1-4) enters Friday's night matchup looking for the second win of the season. Howard defeated Sacred Heart, 22-17 last weekend, while the Bears (0-4) fell 27-14 to Saint Francis. 

Game Coverage

Tiffany Green (Play-by-Play) and Jay Walker (Color Analyst) will lead the way on ESPNU. ESPNU will broadcast the game live.

Howard athletics advises: 

>> All fans to purchase their tickets before arriving on campus to avoid any delays.

>> To scan your tickets, fans will need an electronic device. 

>> Game tickets are $25 plus fees; there will be no discounted tickets available. 

>> First 500 students can get comp. Tickets from Burr Gymnasium Thursday, between 12-2. 

The Series:

The series date back to 1899. The Bears lead the series 46-33-3.

Last time out: Howard defeated the Bears in the final seconds on an 8-yard Michael Cornwell touchdown grab from Quinton Williams to snatch a 20-15 victory on Nov. 23, 2019. Cornwell scored with 39 seconds remaining in the game. The Bears then drove to Howard's 30 with three seconds left. However, Morgan St. threw into the end zone, where the ball was batted down on the game's final play, allowing Howard to escape with just its second victory of the season.

>>Williams threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, and Dedrick Parson rushed for 170 yards and another score for Howard.

>>Morgan's last win against the Bison was a 28-24 victory at Hughes Stadium on Sept. 24, 2016.

>>Morgan's last win at Greene Stadium was on Oct. 13, 2007, in a 36-33 overtime win against Howard.


New Tradition:

The Howard University football team announces a new tradition on the Yard, 'The Bison Walk.' The Bison Walk will feature Howard University Showtime Band, Cheerleaders, Head Coach Larry Scott, and Howard's football team. 


Up Next:

Howard will enjoy a week off before heading into the second half of their schedule. The Bison will host Norfolk State University for Homecoming 2021, Oct. 23, 2021.

Howard University will host a hybrid homecoming this year. 

Howard Athletics will host the Bison Madness powered by Nissan Tuesday, Oct. 19. The event will only allow current Howard University students to attend.
