WASHINGTON (October 16, 2021) – Howard University women's swimming and diving team had a strong outing in their first home meet since January 2020 against crosstown rival Georgetown.
Overall, HU won three events inside Burr Pool and despite falling to the Hoyas, 80.5-123.5, several young Bison etched themselves in the program's record books.
The 200 Free Relay squad of sophomores
Isabella Fountain (White Plains, N.Y.) and
Michaela Spears (Highland, Ind.) and freshmen
Jorden Hill (Birmingham, Ala.) and
Kelsey Roberson (West Orange, N.J.) capped off the afternoon, winning the event with a 1:39.13 time.
Individually, Fountain placed first in the 50 Free and 100 Free with marks of 25.06 and 54.30, respectively.
Spears competed in the 100 Breast where she finished runner-up, clocking in at 1:08.73. For her efforts, the Indiana native has the ninth-fastest time in program history.

Alana Josey (York, Pa.), took part in the 200 IM where they placed second (2:13.25) and third (2:15.33), respectively. As a result, both Bison landed in the school's all-time performance list, sitting fifth and 10
th, respectively.
Josey also saw action in the 500 Free, earning second overall with a 5:23.88 mark. The Pennsylvania product placed eighth all-time in program history.
On the board, junior
Teyana Johnson (San Antonio) finished runner-up in the 1-meter dive, scoring 243.23 points. For her efforts, she landed fourth in the school's all-time list.
On Oct. 29, HU hosts crosstown rival American inside Burr Pool. Meet time is slated for 6 p.m.
