Howard Seeks Home-opener Win Versus Sacred Heart

In light of D.C. festivities and appreciation for our Bison fans admission is free.

Washington, D.C. | The Howard University football team will look for their first win of the season against Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon. The kickoff is set for 1:05 pm in Greene Stadium.

Howard (0-4, 0-0 MEAC) dropped a 22-16 nailbiter versus Robert Morris last Saturday.

Sacred Heart fell to (2-2, 0-1 NEC) after a 41-3 defeat to Dartmouth.

NEWS and NOTES

>> Due to D.C.'s Open Streets event, the District will close three miles of Georgia Avenue, between Barry Place NW and Missouri Avenue. In light of the festivities and appreciation for our Bison fans. Howard Athletics is offering free admission to all fans. 

>> Due to the street closure on Georgia Avenue, access to the stadium will be limited; please plan accordingly.

>> Saturday's contest is the first home contest since Nov. 23, 2019, a 20-15 upset victory over Morgan St.  

>> Sacred Heart is the second NEC conference foe in back-to-back games. 

>> The Bison are one of the most disciplined squads in the FCS. Howard is averaging 4.25 penalties per game, tied for 16 in the FCS, and is top billing in the MEAC.

>> Quinton Williams continues to improve ranks 35th in the FCS and first in the MEAC, completing 18.5 passes per game. Williams is averaging 226.0 yards a game, 33rd in the FCS. 

>> Wideout, Antoine Murry, stock continues to rise with big play catches, currently ranks 53 in the FCS and leads the MEAC in yards per reception (17.9). 

>> Kenny Gallop 8.2 tackles per game lead the MEAC. 


UP NEXT: 

Howard will open up MEAC play in front of a national audience on Fri., Oct. 8 at 8 pm versus Morgan State on ESPNU. The contest is the first time the Bison will host a Friday Night Game in Greene Stadium.
