WASHINGTON (August 13, 2020) – Originally from Congo,
Kandi Mukole Tshimuanga was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium, but played high school basketball at Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy in Atlanta where he won a pair of championships. After a successful high school career, he was recruited to play at Howard University under
Gil Jackson.
In his four-year collegiate career (2006-10) at The Mecca, Tshimuanga competed in nearly 125 contests for the Bison. In 2010, the 6-foot-8 forward graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Economics.
Shortly after graduating, Tshimuanga promptly returned home to Belgium after suffering the loss of his brother.
Tshimuanga, the oldest of four siblings, works as an entrepreneur and head trainer at the fitness firm Basic Fit where he manages three clubs and 15 independent coaches who all run their own personal training business.
Tshimuanga also works as a fitness instructor, giving classes on Body Combat, Body Attack, Body Pump and CX Worx among others, and is a trainer for most of those concepts.
Through the Les Mills company, he is developing the fitness industry in African countries where they speak French.
In his spare time, he spends playing basketball for a small team in Brussels while keeping track of HU Athletics. He is very excited about the current direction of his former team and hopes to attend homecoming as an alumni soon.
