WASHINGTON (June 18, 2020) – Shawn Gooden was a four-year member of the Howard University wrestling team (1991-95). In 1995, he graduated from The Mecca with a Bachelor of Business Administration in management. After graduation, he served as an assistant to the interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Cuyahoga Community College.
 
Gooden returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant (1997-99) where he earned his master's degree in physical education with the concentration in sport marketing from HU (1999).
 
After serving as an assistant business manager at Morgan State University (1999-01) and Florida A&M University (2001-02), he went on to Florida State University (FSU) where he took over as Coordinator of Support Services in the Center of Academic Retention and Enhancement. At FSU, he held two assistantships: one in the Seminole Ticket Office and the second was teaching courses within the sport management department while pursuing his terminal degree.
 
Currently, Gooden serves as Assistant Director for Fiscal Operations in the Morgan State Athletics Department after returning to Baltimore in March 2005. As the department's fiscal officer, he manages the athletic department's annual operating budget and long-range financial forecasting.
 
Gooden is a member of the College Athletic Business Managers Association, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association, Inc.
 
Besides serving on numerous finance and planning committees during his career, he also has helped direct several NCAA and conference championships, including 1999 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Tournament, 2000 MEAC Track & Field Championships, and 2006 MEAC Softball Championship.
