Senior Profile Featuring Noah Nicholas

A talk with captain Noah Nicholas

WASHINGTON (June 10, 2020) – Howard University rising senior Nicholas Turk caught up with recent graduate Noah Nicholas (Stone Mountain, Ga.) from the men's swimming & diving team, asking nine questions for the 2019-20 Senior Profile series.

Q: What is your favorite part about swimming?
A: Swimming relaxes me, so that's my favorite part. It has always been my outlet or therapy in a way.

Q: What motivated you and what kept you motivated?
A: My motivation is reaching my full potential. I don't know how far I can go, so the mystery and process push me every day.

Q: If you were not a swimmer, what sport would you be in?
A: I would be in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu because I took a class at Howard and loved it! I love martial arts.

If not Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, then CrossFit.

Q: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
A: My favorite athlete is David Goggins because of his story. He's truly inspirational and he shows that anything is possible within your own capabilities, which I love. He's not the greatest athlete, but his mindset continues to push himself towards being the best version of him.

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: After graduation, I plan to enroll into a physician assistant program; however, I must gain at least two years of work experience in the medical field. So, I'm going to take courses in Emergency medical technician (EMT) soon.

Q: What is your favorite memory at Howard?
A: My favorite memory at Howard was eating team breakfast together twice a week in the café after morning practices. Those were the best times because practice was over and there were good vibes with lots of laughs.

Q: What will you miss when you leave Howard?
A: I'll miss my teammates because they were not only my friends but became family.

Also, I'll miss the HU environment.

Q: What is your advice for those coming after you?
A: My advice for those coming after me, hang in there because you'll experience challenges; however, your teammates will be there to encourage and support you along the way.

Also, enjoy your four years while taking advantage of every opportunity. These are the years where you grow as a student-athlete and a person.

Q: Who would you like to thank?
A: I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and volunteers for making these four years a great lifetime experience.
