Kennedy Lewis talked with recent graduate
Franchino Chambers (Atlanta) from the men's soccer team, asking 10 questions for the 2019-20 Senior Profile series.
Q: What is your favorite part about soccer?
A: My favorite part about soccer is the sport giving me motivation to be better, not only as a student-athlete, but as a person as well.
Q: How did you get started in soccer?
A: Soccer was always my sport growing up. I've been playing soccer since I was five years old.
Q: What kept you motivated?
A: What kept me motivated during my collegiate career was getting the program back to the top mountain, bringing back the winning tradition established back in the 70s.
Q: If you were not competing in soccer, what other sport would you do?
A: If I weren't playing soccer, I would have played either baseball or ran track.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
A: My favorite athlete is Brazil star Neymar because he's always confident and never afraid of the big stages like the World Cup.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I have a couple options after graduation. I'll either attend grad school in England or pursue a full-time job in engineering.
Q: What's your favorite memory at Howard?
A: I don't have one memory, but my favorite Howard memories will always be HU Homecoming, for sure.
Q: What or who will you miss at Howard?
A: I will miss a lot of people like my close friends, teammates, coaches, and professors.
Q: What advice would you give future Bison?
A: The best advice for future Bison is to stay on top of your schoolwork while taking advantage of all the opportunities HU has to offer. Trust me, the four years will fly by faster than you think.
Q: Who would you like to thank?
A: I would like to thank all my coaches and teammates over the years because they've made me into the person I am today.
About Chambers
Franchino Chambers was a four-year member of the men's soccer team where he competed in over 30 matches for the Bison.
On the field, Chambers was a key part of the team's success; however, the Atlanta native made a bigger impact inside the classroom. He earned numerous academic honors, including Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Commissioner's All-Academic Team twice (2018 & 2019) and Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll (2017-18).
After graduation, Chambers plans to either attend graduate school over the pond in England or pursue a full-time job in engineering.
