Entering Tuesday's clash against SCSU, Howard (15-14, 7-9 MEAC) dominated South Carolina State in their lone meeting of the year at Burr Gymnasium, 78-47. Five Bison reached double figures, led by third-year sharpshooter
Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) with 14 points.
HU ended the season with the league's top long range attack, eclipsing 32-percent (168-of-528) from downtown. Thornton, All-MEAC Third Team, and senior guard
Ayonna Williams (Washington), All-MEAC Second Team, rank No. 1 in three-pointers made (2.90) and three-point percentage (43%), respectively.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
SCSU (3-26, 2-14 MEAC) enters the tourney in a slump, dropping eleven-in-a-row. South Carolina State's last victory in the home win over Maryland Eastern Shore, 60-55 (Jan. 20).
Taylor Brown and Heniaya Moten lead the squad in scoring, producing 16.7 ppg and 12.6 ppg, respectively. Newcomer Jayah Hicks is one of the young bright spots after being named to the All-MEAC Rookie Team.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 5, Thornton and Williams guided the Bison over Delaware State, 76-71, inside Burr Gymnasium on Senior Night. With the win, HU finished the regular season 15-14 (7-9 MEAC) while securing the No. 7 seed. Both Bison scored 25 points apiece in the win.
Freshman
Brooklyn Fort-Davis (Chicago) notched her second career double-double, producing 11 points and 11 boards in the victory.
