NORFOLK, VA. -- No. 10 Howard will face No. 7 South Carolina State in the opening round of the 2020 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tuesday (March. 10th) at 8 p.m. at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.

The two teams met earlier this season with South Carolina State (11-17 overall, 6-10 MEAC) knocking off Howard (3-28 overall, 1-15 MEAC) 101-95 in overtime in Washington, DC.

HOWARD

Entering Tuesday's matchup, Howard ranks No. 1 in the conference in three-point percentage (34.5), No. 2 in total assist (413), No. 3 in total blocks (106). 

The Bison lost seven conference games by ten points or less and took the Bulldogs to overtime in their lone contest of the season. 

The All-Time MEAC Scoring Leader Charles Williams paced the Bison this season, averaging 18.03 points a game. Williams recorded a season-high 34 points versus the Bulldogs and four assists. Zion Cousins recorded a double-double (21 points - 14 Rebounds). 

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE

SCSU has lost its last five games. Less than ten points decided the Bulldogs past six contests. 

Tashombe Riley recorded 24 points versus the Bison, and five other Bulldogs scored in double-figures.

The Howard University Bison dropped a heartbreaker 95-101 in overtime, in front of a packed house Monday night in Burr Gymnasium.

Charles Williams paced all scorers with a game 34 points, and three shies from his career-high 37 points versus Savannah State (1/28/17) his rookie season. Zion Cousins had a career night, recording 14 rebounds and 21 points all career highs for his fourth double-double of the season. Wayne Bristol Jr. (10) and Kyle Foster (10) also scored in double-figures for the Bison.
