MATCHUP PREVIEW

HOWARD

HU (14-14, 6-9 MEAC) seeks to build momentum before arriving in Norfolk next week. Howard is locked in at the No. 7 seed no matter Thursday's outcome where they will face No. 10 South Carolina State in the opening round.

Guards Ayonna Williams (Washington) and Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) rank among the league's scoring leaders, recording 14.8 ppg (3rd) and 12.3 ppg (10th), respectively. Defensively, Imani Bryant (Berkeley, Calif.) and Jayla Myles (Rochester, N.Y.) sit first (1.7 bpg) and second (1.5 bpg), respectively, in blocks per game.

DELAWARE STATE

DSU (12-16, 8-7 MEAC) enters Thursday looking to break a three-game slide before next week's conference tourney. Currently, Delaware State holds the fifth spot over North Carolina Central (NCCU), owning the tiebreaker. With a win, the Lady Hornets clinch the No. 5 seed. A loss and the Eagles' victory over rival North Carolina A&T State send the club to sixth overall.

Sharajah Collins and Lyric Turner lead the Lady Hornets in scoring, producing 12.0 ppg and 10.3 ppg, respectively.

LAST TIMEOUT

Monday (March 2), the Bison erased an 18-point deficit, but Maryland Eastern Shore rallied and escaped with a narrow 70-71 victory inside Burr Gymnasium.

Williams and Bryant spearheaded the Bison's comeback bid. Williams filled the stat sheet, recording a game-high 23 points, seven boards, five steals and four dimes. For Bryant, the California native notched her second double-double of the season with a career-high 19 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Thursday is Senior Night where the women's basketball team will recognize seven Bison for their hard work and dedication to the program. Bryant, Myles, Williams, Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.), Star Fitzgerald-Greer (Bronx, N.Y.), Danielle Griffin (Charlotte, N.C.) and Tariah Johnson (Chapel Hill, N.C.) will be honored after the squad's clash with Delaware State.
