HU (16-14) enters Wednesday's contest with the league's No. 1 scoring attack, posting 68.7 ppg.
All-MEAC honorees
Ayonna Williams (Washington) and
Jayla Thornton (Newark, N.J.) spearhead the Bison, producing 15.2 ppg and 13.1 ppg, respectively.
Senior
Imani Bryant (Berkeley, Calif.) and redshirt junior
Jayla Myles (Rochester, N.Y.) anchor the defensive end, ranking first (1.7 bpg) and second (1.6 bpg) in blocks, respectively.
NORFOLK STATE
NSU (18-11) enters the tourney earning the No. 2 seed after going 12-4 in conference play. In their last six contests, the Spartans are 3-3 after starting league play with a 9-1 mark.
Chanette Hicks, MEAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, leads the Spartans attack on both ends with a conference-leading 20.1 ppg and 4.8 spg.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Wednesday's clash will be the 52nd meeting between HU and NSU with Howard leading the all-time series, 33-18.
Norfolk State swept this year's season series, winning both contests in narrow fashion.
On Jan. 11, HU dropped a tough bout versus NSU, 80-83, inside Burr Gymnasium. Williams led the Bison attack, scoring 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting with four buckets from downtown.
In the rematch (Feb. 29), the Bison ended its five-game road swing with a 60-69 overtime loss at Norfolk State inside Echols Hall arena. Williams finished her afternoon with a team-high 18 points, seven boards and three dimes.
LAST TIMEOUT
Tuesday (March 10), the Bison advanced to the MEAC Quarterfinals after eliminating No. 10 South Carolina State, 79-72, inside the Norfolk Scope Arena.
Thornton led the way with a team-leading 22 points and four boards while Williams filled the stat sheet, producing 17 points, eight dimes, five steals and three boards in the victory.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Winner of Wednesday's showdown meets the winner between No. 3 Morgan State and No. 6 Delaware State in Friday's (March 13) semifinals. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. inside the Norfolk Scope Arena.
