TALLAHASSEE (February 7, 2020) – The Howard University men's basketball team continues to embark on the second half of the conference the season with a Saturday, Feb. 8, 4 p.m. rematch with the Florida A&M Rattlers in Al Lawson Center. HU v. FAMU
Saturday's game marks the 19th meeting between the MEAC institutions… Howard is currently 2-22 overall and 0-9 in the league with a 12-game losing streak on its heels… Florida A&M is 7-13 overall and 5-4 in the conference… The Rattlers are undefeated at home with a 4-0 record… FAMU leads the series 10-8… The last Bison victory over the Rattlers took place in Tallahassee on February 9, 2019, with a 70-66 win.
The Last Meeting (FAMU at HU – Jan. 25, 2020 – Burr Gym)
Howard and Florida A&M last met on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 in Burr Gymnasium. The Rattlers defeated the Bison 87-83 in a nail-biting heartbreaker.
The Bison went to a 2-for-1 strategy in the waning minutes and almost paid off with six seconds left. With HU down 85-83 the Rattlers missed both of their free-throw attempts, unfortunately HU could not secure the rebound giving FAMU another opportunity to secure the win.
Charles " CJ" Williams (Richmond, Va.) paced the Bison with 21 points for his ninth 20-point plus game. As, Nate Garvey (Nanuet, N.Y.) (16), Wayne Bristol, Jr. (Upper Marlboro, Md.) (13), and Kalil Robinson (Columbia, S.C.) (11) all scored double-figures. Robinson added nine assists and three steals. Zion Cousins (Upper Marlboro, Md.) tied the game-high recording eight rebounds.
Howard shot .526 percent (30-of-57) from the floor their second-highest output of the season. The Bison recorded a season-best 13-of-13 from the charity stripe.
FAMU controlled the offensive board outscoring Howard 20-2 in second-chance points.
Howard's Last Contest (Coppin State – Feb. 3, 2020 – Burr Gym)
HU hosted the Coppin State on Monday, Feb. 3 at Burr Gymnasium for International Night, where the squad fell, 56-64.
Williams paced the Bison with a game-high 23 points, including 12 in the second half, while grabbing five defensive rebounds. Garvey added 12 and Bristol added 10 to join Williams in the double-figures category. Cousins brought down a team-high 11 rebounds. Andre Toure (Paris, France) added seven points off the bench, shooting 3-of-4 from the field, two rebounds, and a steal.

Williams leads the squad with 441 points on the season on 18.4 points per game… The senior guard has notched two career milestones this season as the All-Time leading scorer at Howard University and the second All-Time leading scorer in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference… Cousins has pulled down 118 defensive rebounds (4.9 avg.) and 70 offensive rebounds (2.9 avg.) to guide HU on the boards. He has also tallied 24 blocks thus far… When it comes to distributing the ball, Robinson leads the program with 93 assists (3.9 ast/g). The freshman guard also tops the steals category with 29 (3.9 ast/g).
