“Where Are They Now?” Featuring Dr. Tamika Anoia

Former women’s soccer standout practicing dentistry

WASHINGTON (December 10, 2020) – Dr. Tamika Anoia was a member of the Howard University women's soccer team (1998-2001) when the squad played in the Big South Conference before declaring independent. During her collegiate career, she was nominated for rookie of the year while being selected team captain in her final season.

Dr. Anoia attended HU for nearly a decade (1998-2008), studying pre-med biology with a minor in chemistry during undergraduate years. A graduate class in Parasitology with Dr. Clarence Lee led her to the College of Dentistry.

While in Monroe-Woodbury, N.Y. for five years, Dr. Anoia was an active member of the Rotary Club, being involved with the Salvation Army, Safe Homes of Orange County, Monroe-Woodbury High School Scholarship Program, Interact Club, and more.

Currently practicing on Long Island in Lindenhurst, N.Y., she was recently invited to be a partner with Great Expressions Dental. Dr. Anoia provides services that include restoring implants, Invisalign, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, and preventive care. Her practice also offers placement of implants and periodontal surgery.

She credits The Mecca for providing her with a strong foundation, giving her a competitive edge in the field of dentistry. This foundation has led to 12 successful years of practice while returning her home after 22 years away.
