WASHINGTON (October 29, 2020) – Briana Gamble was a four-year member of the Howard University women's soccer team (2007-11) where she played her final two seasons under coach
Brent Leiba.
In her collegiate career, Gamble played 55 matches for the Bison.
After receiving her degree in Civil Engineering, she stayed local, working for Maryland State Highway Administration, Prince George's County, and The Purple Line Transit Project.
Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work on major transit and roadway projects in Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The highlight in her career so far has been working in the community where she lives, helping design and facilitate projects that will better serve black and brown people.
Soccer and HU are still an integral part of Gamble's life. She is a proud Bison and surrounds herself with people who share the same enthusiasm, which influences her to be a better person every day. Currently, she coaches soccer and hopes to one day to teach her daughters after spending three years at Capital City Charter School (2014-17).
She has a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Leiba, who joined the program in her junior year. This respect led to a collaboration between the two Bison, which birthed the "Think Pink" game that is played every October to honor and support the fight against Breast Cancer.
Gamble's personal ties to the cause come in the form of her paternal grandmother, who was fighting her second battle with the disease at the time of the game's inception. This, along with her love of the program, has led to her family's attendance at this event become a tradition.
Gamble's world consists of her two daughters, Ava (5) and Emeri (3), and she feels that working in the Black community shows her girls the impact that one can have on the world. Her daughters are the product of a Howard love story with Briana meeting her husband at The Mecca in 2009. As a family, they love to create new adventures and explore the world.
