Men's Basketball Returns to Burr to Face Morgan State

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Howard University men's basketball team returns to Burr Gymnasium hosting Baltimore foes Morgan State (Feb. 1) and Coppin State (Feb. 3). Saturday's action starts at 4:00 p.m. and Monday's starts at 7:30 p.m.

Head Coach Kenneth Blackeny Bison (2-22, 0-7 MEAC) led Bison is still searching for their first conference win. 

Versus Morgan State

Howard led the Bears 26-23 after the first half before struggling in the second-half falling to Morgan State, 58-68 Saturday afternoon, in Hill Field House.

Kyle Foster paced the Bison of the bench recording a game-high 15 points, Charles Williams and Khalil Robinson recorded 12 points. Cousins led Howard with nine rebounds.

 After holding the Bears to 25 percent shooting in the first half, Morgan State caught fire in the second half shooting 59 percent. Howard averaged 40 percent (22-of-55). MSU held the advantage on rebounds (45-32), and turnovers (15-13).

Morgan State (11-12, 5-3) comes into Saturday's game on a two-game win streak. This is the 111th matchup between the schools. The Bears lead the series 65-45. 

Coppin State went 1-1 last weekend, dropping their Saturday matchup to Morgan State 48-50, and defeating Howard 82-75. Coppin State will faceoff against Delaware State, Saturday. 

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BISON

 • Despite a game-high 28 points from Maryland native Wayne Bristol Jr., the Howard University men's basketball team still remains defeated in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with a Monday night 82-75 loss at Coppin State.

 • Three other Bison scored in double figures outside of Bristol including Khalil Robinson with 15 points, Charles "CJ" Williams and Nate Garvey adding 13 points, respectively.

 • Coppin retained the lead the entire contest reaching a night-high 15-point deficit at the 3:29 mark of the first half.

HOWARD NOTES

  • MEAC all-time scoring list record watch: Williams sits in second place with 2,197 career points, 78 points shy of Delaware State Tom Davis (1987-1991) 2,275 that stood since 1991.
  • Howard ranks second in conference from beyond the arc. The Bison ranks first in assist turnover.
  • Broken Record: Charles "CJ" Williams (Richmond, Va.) broke Howard record for the most career points (1,933) formerly held by James Daniel versus Mount St. Mary's Nov. 30.
  • Bristol Jr. 28 points performance against Coppin State landed him on the MEAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
