Howard University (2-16, 0-4) looks to end four-game conference skid versus Morgan State, Saturday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m.


Saturday's game is the 110th matchup, the Bears lead the series 64-45. The two squads have split the season series the last three seasons. 


News and Notes:

  • Charles "CJ" Williams continues to score at a rapid pace, averaging 18.9 points a game this season, and eclipsed 2,000 career points versus Harvard.
  • Williams scored 14 points against Norfolk State and poured in a season-high 34 points against South Carolina State. He now has 2,135 career points, needing just 24 points to pass Coppin State's Tywain McKee for second place on the MEAC's all-time scoring list. 
  • Howard's Zion Cousins logged his fourth double-double of the season against South Carolina State, finishing with career highs in points (21) and rebounds (14).  
  • Howard won their first game versus Hampton breaking a ten-game losing streak to the Pirates on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Hampton, Va.
  • Howard scheduled three Ivy League opponents this winter (Harvard, Penn, and Yale) on campus. Tickets for Yale can be purchased at www.BisonTickets.com
  • The HU November road swing began Nov. 9 in Washington, D.C., at George Washington and concluded on Nov. 26 in Washington, D.C., at American University.
  • Broken Record: Williams broke Howard record for the most career points (1,933) formerly held by James Daniel versus Mount St. Mary's Nov. 30. 
  • Howard was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team MEAC for the 2019-20 season, according to a poll of the leagues head coaches and sports information directors.
  • Howard leads the MEAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.0) and ranks No. 3 in the MEAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.321) and No. 4 in assists (12.9 avg).
  •  Howard's last MEAC win came against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 80-71 on March 14, 2019.

  • Bison dropped a heartbreaker 95-101 in overtime, in front of a packed house Monday night in Burr Gymnasium.
  • Williams paced all scorers with a game 34 points, three shies from his career-high 37 points versus Savannah State (1/28/17) his rookie season. Cousins had a career night, recording 14 rebounds and 21 points all career highs for his fourth double-double of the season. Wayne Bristol Jr. (10) and Kyle Foster (10) also scored in double-figures for the Bison.
  • The Bison went on a 15-5 run over the final four minutes cemented by Wayne Bristol Jr game-tying free throw with 21 seconds left. The Bulldogs could not capitalize on their last-second shot taking an 84-84 tie into overtime.
  • SCSU opened the overtime period connecting from the top of the key to take 86-84 lead with 4:37 left in regulation. HU took the lead 89-88 with three minutes left when the Bulldogs went on a 12-7 to escape with a 101-95 victory.

 About Morgan State

  • The Bears' basketball program falls under first-year head coach Kevin Broadus the Morgan State 16th Coach.
  • After starting 2-0 in MEAC play, Morgan State has dropped its last two.
  • Senior guard Stanley Davis needs 107 points to reach 1,000 points for his Morgan State career. 
  • MSU was predicted to finish seventh in the conference in the preseason, the Bears currently sit in fifth place.
