WASHINGTON (August 31, 2019) – Howard University men's soccer team fell on the road at Longwood (LU), 3-0, in their season opener.
Longwood outshot HU, 17-6, while scoring three times.
At the 18-minute mark, Mikel Abando put Longwood on the board, 1-0.
After intermission, Abando scored another goal on a penalty kick, followed by another goal within a four-minute span, 3-0.
Senior
Daniel Hart (Silver Spring, Md.) led the way with a pair of shots while goalkeeper
Carlos Caro (Silver Spring, Md.) recorded six saves in the loss.
Howard returns to action for a pair of home matches against Mount St. Mary's (Md.) (Sept. 10) and Brown (Sept. 12). Both contests start at 3 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
