Kaylah Clark (Miami) and freshman infielder
Camille Navarro (Los Angeles) claimed Howard University Bison of the Month, sponsored by Kimpton Carlyle Hotel Dupont Circle and Kimpton Glover Park Hotel, for their amazing performances in April. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
Women's Track & Field-Kaylah Clark-Sophomore-Miami, Fla.
Clark participated in the Towson Invitational (April 6) where she placed 12
th in the hammer throw (42.44m; 139'). She took fourth (47.50m; 155'10") in the same event the following week at the Aggie Invitational (April 4). Clark competed in the Morgan Legacy (April 20) and helped the Bison place fourth overall. That weekend, she set season-best in the hammer throw (48.04m; 157'7"), shot put (12.42m; 40'9") and discus (41.62m; 136'6"). For her efforts, she was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Field Athlete of the Week.
Softball-Camille Navarro-Freshman-Los Angeles, Calif.
Navarro set several season highs against Maryland Eastern Shore (April 23) where she went a perfect 4-of-4 with a stolen base. Navarro went 3-for-4 against Bowie State (April 3) with three RBIs, two runs, and a double. The victory against Bowie State gave Howard its most wins since 2016.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Nathaniel Are (Men's Track & Field): Are won the 2019 Morgan Legacy men's pole vault after catapulting over nine feet in the air (2.75m).
Andrea Fievre (Women's Lacrosse): Fievre had a season-high 17 saves in a match against Stetson (April 12).
Dominique Jackson (Women's Tennis): Jackson won all three of her singles matches during the month of April (3-0).
