Howard Softball Drops Doubleheader at Towson University

TOWSON, Md. – Howard University softball (10-20, 3-1 MEAC) dropped Tuesday's doubleheader to Towson University (18-19, 3-6 CAA). Howard suffered a 7-2 loss in game one and a 6-4 loss in game two.

The Bison were shutout by the Tigers in the first six innings. A home run at the top of the seventh by Kalita Dennis put the Bison on the board. The Bison were able to get another point with Sienna Herrera walking. Maxie Harrington advanced to second while Alannah Baiyina went to third, allowing Camille Navarro to score.

In game two, Howard regrouped with a vengeance. The Tigers were on the board first with a home run by Madison Wilson and a double that brought in Julia Smith-Harrington. The Bison responded in the top of the second when Harrington singled, advancing Jackie Jones to third and Trinity Gibbs scoring.

Leading 2-1 going into the bottom of the second, the Tigers' Julia Jackson advanced Lindsey Toneygay. Once again the Bison answered with its most successful inning of the day. A double by Dennis set the Bison up for three runs at the top of the third. Howard's 4-3 lead was not enough to hold off Towson. The Tigers' Nicole Stockinger hit a home run that saw Smith-Harrington crossing the plate to give Towson a 5-4 lead.

The Bison were unable to score for the remainder of the game while the Tigers scored again. The second game concluded with Howard taking a 6-4 loss.
