WASHINGTON (April 28, 2019) – Howard University women's lacrosse hung tough, but the Kennesaw State (KSU) Owls propelled with a second half surge, 25-3, inside Greene Stadium.
KSU scored the first two goals, but second-year midfielder
Jillian Jones (Fresno, Calif.) got HU on the board with a free shot, 2-1.
Kennesaw State extended its advantage, 7-1, but a pair of goals from Jones and senior
Latroya Pina (Seeknok, Mass.) sliced the margin to four, 7-3.
From that point, the Owls scored six unanswered before intermission to increase its lead to double-digits, 13-3.
After halftime, KSU kept the pressure on with 12 more goals while shutting out the Bison, 25-3.
HU (0-14, 0-6 ASUN) won six draw controls, led by Jones with four. Sophomore
Marquia Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) added two DCs.
Defensively, freshman
Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) recorded eight saves and seven ground balls.
For Kennesaw State (8-9, 3-3 ASUN), Siena Gore led the way with a match-high five goals while Madison McGhee dished out five assists in the victory.
