@HowardBison_WBB Coasts in Road Win at FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 9, 2019) – Four Bison scored in double-digits to beat Florida A&M University, 81-59, on Saturday afternoon at the Lawson Center.  Howard women's basketball improves to 6-3 in the conference.
In the first half, the Bison and Rattlers seemed evenly matched. The first period ending with the Rattlers up by four. At halftime, the score was tied 29-29.

When the third quarter opened, a jumper by FAMU's Jasmine Ballew put the Rattlers on the board first. However, the Bison did not allow them to gain any momentum. A three-pointer from Ayonna Williams set the Bison up for a run. By the end of the quarter, Howard had outscored FAMU 27-8. The result was a 56-37 lead going into the fourth quarter. Shooting 52 percent, the Bison put up another 25 points to the Rattlers 22 points, to close out the game victoriously, 81-59.

Howard had 32 points in the paint compared to FAMU's 14. Additionally, the Bison took advantage of turnovers, gaining 24 points off of turnovers. Howard had 30 defensive rebounds to the Rattlers eight offensive rebounds.

FAMU's Autumn Goram led the Rattlers with 14 points, followed by Candice Williams and Dy'Manee Royal with 11 points each. The Rattlers now hold a 3-19, 1-9 MEAC record.

Ayonna Williams had 17 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Followed by Sarah Edmond with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Krislyn Marsh and Curstyn Moore both contributed 10 points and five rebounds.

The Bison will remain in Florida to face the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
