Men's Hoops Continues Homestand with Harvard

Howard University men's basketball squad returns to action, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Burr Gymnasium for Ole' School Bison Afternoon. 

 

 News and Notes:

  • The Bison rebounded strongly versus the Royals Wednesday night in Burr gymnasium defeating Regent 105-47.
  • Six Bison scored in double-figures led by standout Charles Williams.
  • Charles "CJ" Williams counties to score at a rapid pace, averaging 17.9 points a game this season, Williams crossed the 2,000 points threshold with a mid-range jumper from the wing as time expired versus Regent. 
  • Howard won their first game versus Hampton breaking a ten-game losing streak to the Pirates on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Hampton, Va. 
  • The Bison will play their third game of a four-game homestand in Burr Gymnasium versus Harvard (Dec. 22) and Penn (Dec. 30). 
  • Howard will face three Ivy League opponents (Harvard, Penn, and Yale) on the campus of Howard University. The Ivy Package can be purchased through the official athletics ticketing portal: www.BisonTickets.com
  • The HU November road swing began Nov. 9 in Washington, D.C., at George Washington and concluded on Nov. 26 in Washington, D.C., at American University.
  • Broken Record: Charles "CJ" Williams (Richmond, Va.) broke Howard record for the most career points (1,933) formerly held by James Daniel versus Mount St. Mary's Nov. 30. 
  • Howard was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team MEAC for the 2019-20 season, according to a poll of the leagues head coaches and sports information directors.


 Last time out Howard 105, Regent 47

  • The Howard University Men's basketball team cruised past the Regent University Royals 105-47.
  • The Bison stormed out the gate on a 22-2 run in the first four minutes of the game.
  • Nate Garvey tied his career-high in that span, knocking down 13 points, going 5-of-6 from the floor and recording three shots from beyond the arc. Garvey finished the contest with a career-high 15 points. 
  • Six Bison scored in double-figures, Williams (24), Garvey (15), Kyle Foster (12), Khalil Robinson (12) a career-high, Wayne Bristol Jr. (10) and Zion Cousins (10) recorded his second double-double of the season securing 10 rebounds. Michael Barber recorded a season-high three blocks and five rebounds.
  • Howard shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the floor and converted 29 turnovers to 40 points a season-best. The Bison controlled the paint bringing down 46 rebounds and scored 52 points in the paint. The Bench outscored the Royals 34-21.



 The Series

  • Harvard leads the series, 4-0.
  • Howard cruised past regent 108-51, inside of Burr Gymnasium.
  • HU dominated both ends of the court, shooting nearly 49-percent (40-of-82) from the floor while limiting the Royals to under 28-percent (22-of-80) from the field.
  • Howard got out in transition, scoring 22 fast-break points while turning 25 turnovers into 31 points.
  • Off the bench, HU posted 52 points.
  • Howard controlled the glass all night, 62-45.

  • Amaker is 4-0 versus Howard.
  • Last time out Harvard returns to action after enjoying its largest victory over Massachusetts in series history. The Crimson was led by senior Robert Baker, who had a career-high 19 points, and sophomore Noah Kirkwood, who added a season-high 19 points of his own. First-year Chris Ledlum, meanwhile, chipped in 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds en route to earning his second Ivy League Rookie-of-the-Week honor on Dec. 9.
